When I saw this feature on HuffPost the other day, I knew I needed to investigate further.

This badass is Maria Felix, “one of the icons of the golden era of the Cinema of Mexico” (via). She was Mexico’s Elizabeth Taylor. A true beauty.

Besides being an actress, Felix was also an avid collector. Her jewelry collection was extensive, and included the “41.37 carat, D-flawless ‘Ashoka’ diamond”, a diamond serpent necklace commissioned from Cartier with 178.21 carats of diamonds, and a double crocodile necklace (also commissioned from Cartier) that had 1,023 fancy yellow diamonds and 1,060 circular cut emeralds (via).

These two fabulous pieces can be seen in the exhibit, “Cartier and America,” which will be open at the Legion of Honor museum in San Francisco until April 18. (If you can go to this I’d highly recommend it. And let me know if you do!)

These leaf earrings by Cartier were another favorite of Maria’s (she wore them with her crocodile necklace – see first picture):

Here are some more pictures of the stunning Felix:

Daria Werbowy portrayed Maria in this month’s V Magazine. The photos are stunning.

In this day and age of minimalism and hard edges, it’s nice to be reminded of how to be glamorous. Pile on the jewelry, put on some lipstick and be fabulous!
